Finite Element Analysis of PolyLactic Acid (PLA) under Tensile and Compressive Loading

Abstract Additive manufacturing or 3D-Printing technology is being utilized heavily in recent times, especially a range of industries. Many types and sizes 3D-printers are producing ceramic, metal, plastic components. This serving society many aspects, such as minimizing environmental impact, reduction cost, even material consumption. Polylactic acid (PLA) thermoplastic filament type used Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) 3D printers. In this study, finite element analysis to simulate the mechanical behaviour PLA both solid 60% infill conditions. Simulations done predict strength other properties tensile compressive loadings using ABAQUS. The results provide insight on performance under above mentioned It concluded carefully selected pattern can result less consumption together with nearly same sound objects.
